Welcome to my new DitroniX Website.
Why Change?
The old site was WordPress based and over the years it has slowed down, even with costly external caching etc. Anyone that has 'played' with WordPress will also know the often painfully slow admin pages. Also, I needed more flexibility, which always needed maintenance and thus time.
As GitHub is now my main source of information and Wiki pages, I have no need to keep this up with the ditronix.net website, so change was required.
New DitroniX.net Site
Having looked at a number of hosting options, together with ongoing running costs and security, Shopify repute to be fast, responsive and reliable. The Admin pages are fast and work.
Managed to migrated products, customer and order details over to the new Shopify website. All your historical information should be intact - other than, you will need to set a new/replacement password.
The DitroniX.net Site Itself
Now that the site is up and running, it will hopefully settle down in a few weeks and I can then test and add new features.
This is yet another learning curve my end but hopefully I have put the initial checks into place to get the site running.
Pre-Ordering Products now live.
The first feature required was an immediate reliable way for customers to Pre-Order and track purchases. This was not previously available, without a lot of manual admin from my end. Seems to work, so will find out soon enough.
Customer Subscribed Emails
Another feature is the ability to send customer subscribed emails and updates.
Please do not forget to subscribe, in order to keep up to date with progress. Mails are not going to be frequent and only when a suitable announcement is required - so no spamming.
Progress
With limited time, I do not want to spend unnecessary time on the site and shop admin. Hopefully it will flow a lot easier for both myself and customers.
